Case Study:

Due to significant differences in the strategic vision for a major international bank and investment organization, a top executive resigned his position as CEO. The bank promptly reneged on its contractual obligation to pay him an earned bonus and severance payments.  Thaler Liebeler LLP filed suit on behalf of the client in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. Before trial, the bank agreed to pay the executive his seven figure bonus and severance.

Case Study:

A high-ranking executive at a financial services organization was wrongfully accused of violation of company policy with respect to stock transactions and terminated. After termination, the company refused to pay the executive’s earned compensation. Thaler Liebeler LLP investigated the matter, analyzed the stock and compensation plan and sent a demand letter to the company. The company changed its position and negotiated a fair resolution of the dispute which included the payment of the executive’s compensation and an agreement to provide a reference acknowledging the executive’s high level of performance for seven years with the company.
High-level business executives are almost invariably provided with an extensive and complex contract at the outset of employment. Effective legal representation at the contract negotiation stage is critically important.

High-paid executives who leave a company are often entitled to severance and bonus payments and those payments can be a source of dispute with a company. Aggressive legal representation and sound strategic advice for the executive is essential at the conclusion of the employment relationship.

Employer-drafted non-compete clauses are a constant source of friction between executives and company. Thaler Liebeler LLP has extensive experience in drafting, analyzing, and litigating non-compete issues.

Thaler Liebeler LLP represents executives in a wide variety of matters including compensation, stock options, non-competes and contracts.

Thaler Liebeler LLP provides advice and counseling to executives as they join a new organization and as they leave an organization.
